O2 is one part of the dual token economy that makes up the ecosystem of Project Forest. Find out more about this utility-focused token.

O2 is Project Forest’s in-app utility token and has an unlimited supply in the ecosystem. At the time of launch, O2's primary utility shall be to unlock soil pits and purchase in-app consumables that enhance the growth of Tree NFTs, such as nutrients and fertilizers. More use cases of O2 will increase over time as the project progresses. Players can also use O2 tokens to participate in limited-time seasonal modes that grant special rewards.

O2 can be accumulated by collecting the amounts released by Tree NFTs daily and at regular intervals. To increase the amount of O2, players can level up existing Tree NFTs or plant more Tree NFTs.

Token usage scenarios

Usage	Description
Trade	Purchase in-app props (such as nutrients, water, and Germinator).
Competition Tickets	Officials shall hold sapling growth competitions and joint tree competitions from time to time. You need to use O2 as the entry ticket.
Digging Soil Plots	Soil pits have to be dug to make soil pits ready for planting seeds. After the first five soil plots are dug (for free), each consecutive soil pit consumes O2 until the 10th soil plot.
Germinating Seeds	Seeds dropped by Tree NFTs within the app require undergoing germination to be minted as NFTs. This process of germination consumes O2 along with $LEAF.
Special LVL Upgrades (1st & 2nd)	During growth or levelling up of trees, certain key stages require the consumption of tokens to enable the tree to transform successfully. The first 2 out of 3 upgrade stages expend O2.
