Tree NFTs

This subsection of the litepaper provides a brief introduction to Tree NFTs of the Project Forest ecosystem and their differentiating factors and crucial attributes, among others.

Trees are the primary NFT assets in the Project Forest ecosystem and a core gameplay component of the app. They are also a pre-requisite to entering the Grow2Earn app. In order to acquire a Project Forest Tree NFT, players must participate during the official Genesis Airdrop event before the launch of the public beta. Later, players can participate in the blind box sales or purchase Tree NFTs through the secondary marketplace.

Initially, trees appear as saplings that grow over time through daily nurturing. As trees age, they increase in value and generate more O2 tokens along with other rewards.

Tree NFTs in Project Forest are differentiated to the extent that no two Tree NFTs are alike. The appearance of Tree NFTs helps physically distinguish them from other NFTs and makes for a diverse and beautiful NFT forest that the player owns and cultivates.

Each Tree NFT is made up of five distinct parts that make up its appearance. These include:

  • Leaves

  • Leaf decorations

  • Leaf patterns

  • Tree trunks

  • Tree base decorations

Other factors such as attributes and quality further differentiate Tree NFTs by defining their characteristics within the Project Forest ecosystem. Each Tree NFT has five sets of attributes:

  • Yield

  • Max Age

  • Fertilizer Absorption

  • Drought Tolerance

  • Grade

Attributes significantly impact the long-term production capabilities of Tree NFTs. Tree NFTs of better quality have stronger attribute specifications and, therefore, provide a more sustainable yield over time.

Rarity

In Project Forest, each Tree NFT belongs to one of five different levels of rarity – Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The higher the rarity of a Tree NFT, the higher the quality of its attributes.

Growth

Trees will automatically grow and increase in age over time and become adult trees. However, the way they’re grown is of significance. Trees require water during their growth process, and if they are unwatered for prolonged periods, they wither or grow sluggishly. Fertilizers improve the levels of trees, but it takes a certain amount of time for trees to absorb fertilizers, so frequent use of fertilizers should be avoided. Players can buy moisture and fertilizers from the in-app shop by spending O2. As Tree NFTs grow in age and levels, they transform in their appearance, increase in value and produce more O2.

Regions

Six continents on Earth can sustain tree growth, excluding Antarctica. As a result, Tree NFTs in Project Forest correlate to their specific regions. Depending on each continent's cultivation, longitude and latitude, Project Forest will select six kinds of trees as NFT tree types from each location and create the in-app Tree NFTs with diverse attributes, just like the real world. The unique characteristics of trees in each continent are created by analyzing the adverse environments of Africa, Asia, Europe, America (North and South America), and Oceania.

  • Asia

  • Europe

  • Americas

  • Oceania

Seeding

In Project Forest, each ordinary Tree NFT can generate a maximum of two seeds. Before level 29, trees can produce one seed and one after level 30. Trees of the same species release unknown seeds that, albeit being the same type, may possess basic properties that remain unknown. These seeds can then be grown into saplings in the nursery pots and receive their base properties once minted. A seed's attribute depends on the parent tree; the rarer the tree, the better the seed's attribute. When there are two seeds (no species requirement), the seedlings can be grown to form a composite tree. However, a composite tree is unable to produce seeds.
