New Layered Architecture

A general outline of the layer architecture established by Project Forest.

The Project Forest technical architecture consists of three key layers:

  • Consensus Layer: Used to track tree ownership and its contents.

  • Content Layer: Used to download assets through a decentralized distribution system (IPFS).

  • Real-Time Layer: Used to link users within the ecosystem.

Tree ownership is established at the consensus layer, and tree content is referenced through the hash value of the file content. From this quote, content can be downloaded from BitTorrent or IPFS. The downloaded file contains descriptions of objects, textures, sounds, and other elements needed to render the scene. It also contains the URL of a rendezvous server to coordinate connections between P2P users exploring tiles at the same time.
