Environmental Influences

This subsection of the litepaper elaborates on how Project Forest is part of the actual world and its distinct weather conditions that affect its ecosystem.

Project Forest is part of the metaverse and related to the actual physical world. As a result, nature will influence the game. The weather will constantly change within the game and affect the trees. However, nature is fair, and even if these influences have an ecological impact in the short term, they will yield good results with time.

  • Rain: Rainfall brings moisture to trees, which benefits their growth. The amount of precipitation varies depending on the particular player's location. However, continuous precipitation will cause soil erosion, which is detrimental to a tree's growth in the long run.

  • High temperatures: Higher temperatures will increase trees' transpiration, which increases water consumption.

  • Sandstorms: Sandstorms have a chance of causing tree death. However, when the number of trees reaches a certain level, trees gain a particular resistance to sandstorms and other harsh weather conditions.

  • Volcanoes: Volcanic eruptions can affect the age of trees and even cause them to wither.
