Trees are NFTs in Project Forest and release O2 regularly. They gradually increase in age over time and require water during the growth process. If trees are unwatered for a long time, they wither, resulting in stagnant growth. Fertilizers can speed up tree growth, but it takes time for trees to absorb fertilizers.
Trees in the Closed Beta phase of Project Forest are not actual NFTs. However, starting with the Open Beta phase, all trees within the app will be NFTs.
There is no upper limit on the purchase and quantity of trees. The purchased trees accumulate in the backpack, and the trees start growing automatically after being planted into the soil pits.
The initial age of a tree is one year, which automatically increases with time. There is no upper limit on the age of a tree; it grows over time. Trees also have different growth periods at different levels along with the O2 output:
Growth (Age 1-30): O2 yield is 80%.
Mature (Age 31-70): O2 output is standard at 100%.
Senile (Age 71-100): This is old age, and tree yields are 50% of the standard level. After 100, trees no longer produce O2 and are unaffected by the natural environment.
The initial level of trees is level 1, with a maximum of 30 levels. Different tree levels produce different amounts of O2, and fertilizers boost tree levels for increased O2.
In Project Forest, trees can be bought and sold on the Marketplace for O2 tokens. These trees have varied qualities and distinct attributes, along with improved tree ages and O2 production levels, unlike the exclusive trees initially received at age 1. These aspects sum up to better overall ratings for trees that players can use to improve the overall ratings of their forests.
For the time being, the Marketplace trade feature is locked in the closed beta of Project Forest.
However, the closed beta exclusively provides players with 30 trees initially, and the marketplace trade feature will be unlocked soon.
Each tree in Project Forest is unique in its attributes and rarity. Similarly, the O2 production of each tree depends on these factors. Project Forest has several trees released into the application from all over the globe, divided into five continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, America, and Oceania. Currently, we have the following trees from the respective regions:
Each tree in Project Forest belongs to a different level of rarity: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Besides quality, trees have distinct attributes comprising five branches: yield, life cycle (tree age), tree levels, drought tolerance, and fertilizer absorption capacity.
In the Closed Beta phase of Project Forest, trees only belong to the Common rarity tier.
